I went home for a few days last weekend and managed to get around to having a much needed Mumma-Daughter date. I miss my Mum so much when I’m at uni and because it gets busy with work and university, I don’t get to go home anywhere near as much as I’d like to. At the start of the year I think I maybe went home once or twice between New Year and summer and it was so hard, not only because I missed my family but also because it’s so relaxing to be at home being looked after again!
We decided to head up to Morningside in Edinburgh. It is such a beautiful area and the Dominion Cinema there is awesome. It’s a wee independent and all the screens have sofas and footrests. You get the whole cinema experience but feel like you’re still in your living room! We popped in for lunch first as we had a (much needed!) late lie in so didn’t head out till midday before heading around the (super pricey) charity shops. Admittedly, some of the stuff were good labels but not all was still in good condition. I did manage to score Scott a good as new jumper though so he’s a happy boy! We chatted and giggled away as we mooched about. Mum actually started hysterically laughing at one point. As in, doubled over, bright red face, tears rolling… all over a funny card, ahaha! I think her reaction was more hilarious for me than the original joke!
We saw ‘What We Did On Our Holiday’ at the cinema. It’s a British comedy (which always go down well in my books!) and was truly fantastic. It made you cry and laugh within seconds of each other and there is at least one character you can relate to someone in your own family! If that hasn’t sold it, it stars David Tennant, Rosamund Pike AND Billy Connolly. Enough said.
It was the perfect was to catch up with my Mum and I sat in the car on the way home, looking out at the rolling hills and feeling completely peaceful. It was bliss.
Love you, Mamma!
