MAN. We have had it good on the weather front this summer! As in, summer dresses every day, getting a proper tan, swimming in the sea on the West coast for a whole day and ice creams as a regular treat. It has been wonderful!
It’s a sure thing that I am a colder seasoned gal though. I love Christmas, cold crisp days, snow, all the festivities that run from October to February. I get inspired! But even I can appreciate this beautiful weather we’ve been getting and all the things it brings with it.
A couple of weeks ago, Alex came to stay with me in the flat for a few nights. He hadn’t seen it since I’d moved in and set up or stayed with me in Glasgow fr a good few months so it was lovely to have him stay! We cooked and baked, watched TV and nattered away and took a day trip to Troon. I hadn’t realised it was so close, only a 40 minute train ride from Central station. We packed up our towels, sunblock and books and headed off in the morning. We went straight for some (very disappointing!) fish and chips before heading to the beach to find a spot to settle on. Alex was straight in to the sea, splashing about, diving in and shrieking at the chill! I joined him shortly. It was one of those moments of, ‘oh no, it’s going to be freezing!’ then ‘oh, it’s actually quite warm! Wow, this is really nice!’ followed by, ‘GEEZ! IT IS COLD IN HERE!’ A true British beach experience!
We moved round to the busier part of the beach and Alex swam for hours, hardly getting out at all except for ice cream and to snap some pictures! I swam to, finding the best technique was to lay in the part of the sea where it was just deep enough to submerge yourself but not deep enough for there to be the hidden cold under current. As soon as a fresh wave came and chilled the water, I just shuffled a long to another part and got warm again. I’m so brave 😉
It was such a fun day, not least because I got to hang out with my little bro again. Not so little any more though, his voice has broken and everything! Scary, scary thought.
Thanks for an awesome time, Alex, you’re the best 🙂 ❤
