FILM LOVE: About Time

I have watched the Richard Curtis film About Time twice this week and fully intend to see it once (or twice!) more before the week is out. It is the most beautiful, inspirational thing I have ever seen and immediately flew to the top of my ‘favourite film’ list. I don’t want to say much about the plot for a couple of reasons. 1) I find it hard to summarise films without giving away too much, and 2) I feel like the trailer above does the job for me anyway!

Here’s a few reasons why it is already my favourite film EVER…

Cast- From Notting Hill to Love Actually (and all the rest…), Richard Curtis films always seems to feature a tremendous British cast which make you want to laugh and cry at the same time. About Time was no exception! I always tend to enjoy Rachel McAdams in films and really enjoyed her performance in this. Although she was one of the main ensemble, I never felt like she had been cast as ‘a leading lady’. She merged perfectly into the cast and starred beautifully alongside Domhnall Gleeson. Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of him before but when I Google’d him after I realised I knew him as Bill Weasley in the last two Harry Potter films! He was so easy to watch and played his character beautifully. His relationship with his father in the film, Bill Nighy, was wonderful to watch emerge. As a family, all the cast seemed to fit perfectly and gel together.

Soundtrack- I’ve been listening on repeat since I saw it. It has the perfect mixture of positive, feel good songs and the more emotional ones for other moments in the film. A couple of my favourites included Gold in Them Hills and How Long Will I Love You.

Vision- The filming locations are all lovely, from there Cornwall house by the beach, their cute London flat above the vintage store and their family house with the handmade garden decor. It was inspiring to watch and left me feeling very creative and positive.

I strongly recommend this film to anyone, whether you’re a lovely of rom coms or not. It has a perfect balance (in my opionion) of all the emotions and in the end leaves you feeling all happy and tingly inside.

Well, that’s how I ended up feeling anyway!

Hope your weekends are all going wonderfully.

Kath xx

  1. I’ve heard so much about this film, and most of the reviews are from my male friends so I’d definitely check it out this weekend. Got the Monday off as a holiday 😛
